I don't need to answer to what was,
I need to enter into what is.
"What was" remnants will circle back as they will
In the flow of consequence.
I need not take charge of completing the circle or healing the wound or filling the hole,
I need to enter this day ready to meet it in full.
Breathe in, letting life permeate my being,
Breathe out, offering love to the swirl of becoming.

It happened in an instant, a different way of seeing. If I hadn't allowed it's impact, it would have passed right by me. As I entered a store, my eyes fell on a picture of a celebrity on the cover of a magazine amongst the deluge of magazines that beckon you to comparisons and competition, to a feeling of deference or a need to gossip. This time, as I saw the smiling face, beaming success, I felt gratitude and a freedom of companionship. Her happiness, which I chose to believe to be true, was adding to the field of being in which we are all a part. That moment or life of happiness helps balance our consciousness, brings the energy of affirmation into the world which touches us all.
It was a different beckoning, this moment of gratitude, to find well being as a worthy endeavor in itself, no matter who you are, and what you earn, and how you live. Well-being itself helps heal the brokenness of the world, binding together, through affirmation, our interdependent web.

Winter Morning Walk
I open my heart to this day:
To the beauty of blue and the deep eternity of sky,
To the crunch of frosted ground
And the kiss of morning sun.
I breathe in this day with all being
And find myself blessed in beholding.
To the beauty of blue and the deep eternity of sky,
To the crunch of frosted ground
And the kiss of morning sun.
I breathe in this day with all being
And find myself blessed in beholding.

Open Wide to Wonder
Instead of meeting my life with regret
I can welcome the lessons learned.
Regret says I don't deserve happiness.
How does that serve anyone?
Instead of seeing my life as lacking
Withe the fault lying in my choices
I can see my life as full of experience
That can guide my way.
Wishing it wasn't that way
Obscures the path forward
Finding the truth in this day
Makes way for the new.
Do I want to judge or journey?
With the one, life will be stuck in my comparisons
With the other, life will open wide to wonder.
I can welcome the lessons learned.
Regret says I don't deserve happiness.
How does that serve anyone?

Already Cluttered
How is it that I enter the New Year already cluttered?
Piles on my desk and in my psyche
Lists of "to do's" and "some day I'll get to that's"
Follow me into the next year, hindering the new of "resolutions".
In our ritual claiming of potential
As we resolve to change or grow or become more
Let us find a way to coach more than judge.
If, for example, we want to lose weight
Let us resolve to love our body more
If we want to spend more time with family
Let us resolve to cherish the moments we already have.
Do we really need to clutter our being with new and better ways of living?
Or do we simply need to pause and recall the good that lies within,
So buried in our judgment, so lost in our perfectionism.
What does this new year bring?
The opportunity to love, to cherish, to wonder, to engage
The details will unfold into a life well lived.

It Is An Honor
It is an honor to breathe with trees,
To engage in the touch of breeze.
An honor, to mingle our lives,
So that roots grow and spirit thrives.
I have little to do with this blessing,
Little to add, I'm confessing;
But to marvel at life with deep care
For the earth, for the cosmos, for air.
To engage in the touch of breeze.
An honor, to mingle our lives,
So that roots grow and spirit thrives.
I have little to do with this blessing,
Little to add, I'm confessing;
But to marvel at life with deep care
For the earth, for the cosmos, for air.
